fiberdesk 5 - the next major release - will have the following features:
- parser
- custom measures via parser
- enhanced parameter variation
- enhanced plotting
- cw-SRS
Here is a first view on the new parameter variation dialog, where the custom measure M49 is evaluating the power from 1100-1200 nm, M1 is the average power so the result is "100*M49/M1" by parsing - the relative power content of Raman scattering. The modell is a cw fiber laser cavity and the pump power is varied.

Rate Equation and Parameter Variation
fiberdesk ignored the "add quantum noise" option during parameter variation. This bug is removed now. Below you see the variation of the input power in a fiber amplifier (1 W pump, rate equation without ASE) and the output power as a measurement result. Up to ~10 mW the amplifier gives the full small signal gain then saturuates and finally increases linearly because the output power is in the same order of magnitude as the input power.

However, if you perform the simulation again including ASE, the total output power is dominated by ASE (in the example 13 mW) in the range below some µW of seed power.

Update on Copy and Parameter Variation
You are now able to copy either intensity or phase to the clipboard with the function "Postprocessing"->"Conversion to..."->"ASCII Matrix".
A bug concerning the full parameter variation is removed.

comma and dot
fiberdesk now asks for comma or dot convention if ASCII data is copied to the clipboard. Even if the Windows has set the preferences different programs behave differently and one requires to have this decision available.

B-Integral and todays update
The B-Integral measurement is different to other measurements that can be directly obtained from the field because it is a integrated value of (peakpower * gamma * dz) along the propagation. Currently, this can be done in fiberdesk while using the "record measurement" option. Otherwise, nothing is added to the B value. To reset the value, use the "Zero" button in the "main" ribbon.
This functionallity has been added to version 3 and 4. You have to download the latest version from the website. It also results in an update of verion 3 to some new features of version 4 (like the new create pulse dialog, removed bugs, faster execution etc.).
Please keep in mind that the file format might have changed. However, with the current and future versions, this is tracked and not a problem anymore .
